NAIDOC Week 2022 – Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!
This NAIDOC Week, we’re celebrating the Indigenous people from our past, present and future who, through their actions, show us what it means to “Get up! Stand up! Show up!”
To help us get ready, Bev Rankin from Fusion Central West NSW spent some time talking with Councillor Gerald Power, founder of Indigenous Cultural Adventures and Deputy Mayor of Orange, to hear his story and his hopes for the future of Indigenous people and our nation.
What is Mercy?
Those of us who’ve lived in the dustbowls of droughted Australia know well the gift of gentle rain, the fresh smell of raindrops hitting the parched earth and the soft gentle greening that follows. This is not the harsh scouring of flash flooding, that rips its way...
What is Justice?
What is justice? And, how do we live it out in our every day lives?
How can you be a good neighbour?
After two years of broken connection and isolation, the time is here to pop our bubbles and get into our neighbourhood again. Neighbour Day on Sunday 27 March is your chance to get out and meet your neighbours and be the difference in someone else’s day.
How Can we Make the Internet a Safer Place
Online safety for young people is an issue as old as the internet. Every parent worries about what their children are exposed to online, what spaces they enter, what information they give away. Cyberbullying, catfishing and predatory behaviour are growing concerns. The media tells us to be worried about SnapChat, TikTok, Discord and any app with group chats. That’s a lot. Events of the last two years have forced young people online more than ever before, so how can we make the Internet a safer place for them?
What Will You Value in 2022?
As you start a new year, what are the values you want to live by in 2022?
Do you long to be hospitable? Generous? Encouraging?
To live a sustainable lifestyle? To include other people? To watch what you say and who you say it to? To listen more deeply to the voices of our First Nations peoples and let what you hear change what you do?
How do we make this year different?
Be the Gift This Christmas
As we remember the gift of a fragile baby, born in challenge and adversity 2000 years ago, how will you respond this Christmas? Will you offer yourself as a gift to your community this year? Will you reach out a hand of friendship to those around you who are lonely, isolated and doing life on their own? Will you BE THE GIFT the world needs?

RUOK? Top Tips for Mental Health
RUOK DAY? in September gives us a chance to reach out to people we know, to see how they’re going and offer support where it’s needed. At a time when many people are physically isolated and feeling emotionally alone too, the opportunity to connect and talk with others is more important than ever.
Home is More than a Roof Over Your Head
With a long history of caring for those experiencing homelessness, Fusion understands that just having a bed to sleep in isn’t all we need to thrive. More than a roof over our heads, we need a community that sees who we really are and is committed to helping us reach...
Pilgrimage 21 | Know the Past, Change the Future
For over 20 years, we’ve been on a journey of listening and seeking to understand the stories of our First Nations peoples, seeking to “know the past” so that we can “change the future”. This year Pilgrims took a journey close to home,
Are We Listening?
Listening is an active process. The best listeners use more than just their ears to engage with and understand what is going on underneath the words. They’re watching how things are being said, paying attention to what isn’t being said and even recognising when what...
